Teaching Update August 2020

Since my last update, I would firstly like to say a personal thank you to all of the students, parents/guardians who have supported me by continuing lessons online. Around 80% transferred online, which is pretty good going!

Looking at the feedback from students, parents/guardians everyone seems quite happy with this arrangement, including feedback & set work sent from myself.

Return to face to face lessons

After continued consultations regarding face to face tuition in a private setting with my MP Gerald Jones, MS Dawn Bowden, CCBC business & development teams & lastly my ongoing meetings with the Wales & South West England Regional Committee I am a member of.

It looks like the date I will be returning to face to face teaching is still undetermined at this time sadly.

This will of course be subject to Central, Welsh & Local government guidelines, rules, laws that are in effect at that time & advice from the Musicians Union also.

Please note

You are completely free to continue to receive lessons online if you prefer, for any reason. I will be happy to accommodate.

Lessons taking place at The Practice Pad will temporarily be taking place at my studio or continuing online when resumed.

A stringent risk assessment is currently being made to implement any & all changes, modifications & safety precautions needed. Once this is complete you will receive a full version of this for your records before lessons are resumed.

The use of disinfectants between students lessons.

Applying PPE for students, teacher & parents/guardians.

The use of screens.

Different sitting positions for students, teacher & parents/guardians.

The use of more online/interactive systems for feedback & assigned work.

Full use of contactless & direct debit payments instead of cash.

I am now signed up with the Defence Discount Service!

This offers currently serving, reserve & retired Officers & NCO's of the British Army, Royal Air Force & Royal Navy (including Royal Marines) discounted lesson prices.

These discounts are available via defencediscountservice.co.uk or via my website.

I've been meaning to set this up for a while as I receive discounts myself for many retailers/services using this scheme due to my former full time & current part time work as a Royal Naval officer.
